The educational component of GTI aims to attract bright minds to the transit-planning field. The program fosters a global student experience through an international exchange, initially with university students in the U.S. and China. The program will also offer training to educate practitioners and agency staff to implement research findings and recommendations.
GTI’s Summer Training Program brings students from Chinese universities to the University of Minnesota campus for academic courses, professional seminars, and site visits. Coursework focuses on transportation and urban planning.
GTI coordinated this study-abroad course in spring semester 2017. The course, offered by the University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs, included visits to five high-density cities in the Yangtze and Pearl River Delta regions in China.
