2016 program

In the summer of 2016, GTI hosted 24 students from two Chinese universities—Southeast University and Nanjing Tech University—for the inaugural GTI Summer Training Program.

Visiting students took University of Minnesota courses on GIS and planning with Humphrey School and U-Spatial faculty. They also attended a variety of transportation-focused seminars and tours around the Twin Cities. The program's itinerary included visiting U of M labs, trying out Nice Ride, taking a boat tour of the St. Croix River Crossing construction site, and touring Metro Transit and the 3M Innovation Center.

In addition, students participated in cultural activities and explored a variety of Minnesota destinations, including the Mall of America and Lake Superior.

The six-week program was developed by GTI, the Center for Transportation Studies, and the U of M China Center’s Mingda Institute.
